Thunder Could Pursue Isaiah Hartenstein In Free Agency
May 31, 2024 1:53 PM
The Oklahoma City Thunder have emerged as the team rival executives believe could be the most likely team to sign Isaiah Hartenstein away from the New York Knicks.
Hartenstein doesn't have the type of ability off the dribble and perimeter shooting that the Thunder have valued, but he is good as a dribble-handoff screener and as a passer. Hartenstein can play alongside other bigs and he also would help the Thunder tremendously as a rebounder.
Hartenstein nearly signed with the Orlando Magic before joining the Knicks, but that no longer is an obvious fit despite their cap space.
The Detroit Pistons have also been previously linked to Hartenstein.

Knicks Not Trying To Trade Julius Randle
May 24, 2024 8:24 AM
The New York Knicks are set up for an important summer. They have some key roster decisions, including extensions and re-signings. One thing that doesn't appear to be on the priority list is trading Julius Randle.
The Knicks are not actively shopping Randle. New York understands that adding a star player this summer may mean having to trade Randle. However, the Knicks aren't taking a must-trade approach to their star forward's status.
Randle is eligible for an extension in early-August. New York isn't likely to pursue an extension, because that would come with a months-long trade restriction. The Knicks are prioritizing flexibility with trades, as well as under the tax aprons, this offseason and into next season.

OG Anunoby Could Entertain Offers From Teams Beyond Knicks In Free Agency
May 23, 2024 1:58 PM
There is some speculation around the league that OG Anunoby could consider other franchises in addition to the New York Knicks, reports Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
The Knicks acquired Anunoby during the season via trade with the combination of assets sent out and his presence as a CAA client has created an expectation that he would eventually re-sign. But Anunoby's situation is believed to be somewhat less certain than his former teammate Pascal Siakam with the Indiana Pacers, who is strongly expected to re-sign.
Anunoby has a $19.9 million player option for the 24-25 season with the Knicks that he is expected to decline.
During his half season with the Knicks, Anunoby was highly productive but had multiple injury stints.
The Philadelphia 76ers could be among the teams to pursue Anunoby.

Jalen Brunson, Bojan Bogdanovic Undergo Successful Surgeries
May 22, 2024 9:22 AM
The New York Knicks announced that Jalen Brunson and Bojan Bogdanovic have both undergone successful surgeries for their respective injuries.
Brunson had surgery on a fractured left hand. He'll be re-evaluated in six-to-eight weeks. This injury and subsequent surgery will likely keep Brunson from being a potential injury replacement for Team USA at the Summer Olympics.
Bogdanovic underwent surgery for ligament damage in his left wrist. Bogdanovic is also recovering from surgery on his left foot. He'll be re-evaluated in six-to-eight weeks after the wrist surgery. Bogdanovic is likely to miss the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early-July for the Croatian National Team.

May 21, 2024 3:15 PM

The Knicks signed Brunson during the 2022 offseason on a four-year, $107 million deal.

Teams Monitoring Potential Trade Availability Of Julius Randle
May 20, 2024 1:56 PM
The future of Julius Randle with the New York Knicks is uncertain as he could become a free agent in 2025 if he declines his player option and is eligible for an extension this offseason. If the Knicks trade for a big star this offseason, Randle could be included as an outgoing player.
"He's got a player option in 2025," said Shams Charania. "He's eligible for a four-year, $181.5 million contract extension this summer. Teams are monitoring this situation for sure, because how they handle that extension situation, if that is a conversation, what transpires. I think that will be interesting. If you think about movable assets, salaries, obviously Julius Randle has got a number if you make a big, big trade."
The Knicks lost Randle in January to a season-ending shoulder injury, but were still one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.
