Each new region of Elden Ring you explore will have one or more map fragments to collect that will reveal the overworld map. Each of these map fragments are found at a stele like the one pictured above. There will actually be a very faint stele icon in the blank area of your map if you look close.

The first area you explore, Limgrave has two maps: Limgrave, East and Limgrave, West.

To the south of Limgrave, you’ll find the Weeping Peninsula and it’s one map fragment. (This one might actually be part of Limgrave, but the name is different, so it gets its own section.)

The region of Caelid and Dragonbarrow is to the east of Limgrave, but you won’t have much need to go there for a while. You’re free to explore it, but it’s a little intimidating early on. There are two map fragments to find: Dragonbarrow to the north and Caelid to the south.

East, West, and North Liurnia map fragment stele locations

Elden Ring guide: Map fragment locations (5)

After you defeat Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle, you’ll continue north into Liurnia. There are three map fragments here: Liurnia, East, Liurnia, North, and Liurnia, West.

Once you’ve explored Liurnia — and collected both halves of the Dectus Medallion — you’ll head up the Grand Lift of Dectus and enter the Altus Plateau. From there, you’ll be able to continue east to Leyndell, Royal Captial. There are two map fragments to find, one for each (sub)region.

You’ll probably get transported to Mt. Gelmir against your will while exploring the Academy of Raya Lucaria, but it is also possible to find your way there from the Altus Plateau. You’ll find the Mt. Gelmir map fragment on your way into the Volcano Manor.

After Leyndell, you’ll need another medallion — two, actually — to explore the next region, the Mountaintops of the Giants. For the main part, you’ll need Rold Medallion from defeating Morgott, the Omen King in Leyndell. For the secret Consecrated Snowfield area, you’ll need the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.

In the Mountaintops of the Giants, there are three map fragments: West Mountaintops of the Giants, East Mountaintops of the Giants, and Consecrated Snowfield.

Siofra River and Nokron, Eternal City map fragment stele location

Deep under East Limgrave, you’ll find the Siofra River and, later, Nokron, Eternal City — you’ll have to visit here as part of Ranni’s questline. There is one map fragment to find for the Siofra River.

After leaving Nokstella, you’ll head to the Lake of Rot. You’ll find the Lake of Rot map fragment right next to the Lake of Rot Shoreline site of grace.

Deeproot Depths map fragment stele location

Finding your way into the Deeproot Depths take a bit of work. You’ll either need to sleep in a coffin in the Siofra Aqueduct or take a secret passage from Leyndell’s Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

We’ll update this guide as we unlock more regions and find more Elden Ring map fragments.
