A lovely day, dropped DS3 off at the cathedral, dropped sewing off & collected more, then picked mum up & went food shopping.

After dinner I got lots done in the garden, planting things DH has grown.

Watched a film with DH at night & did some knitting.

Grateful for a warm, sunny day, hubby's plants, laughter

Thanks @f0xh0les and @lcc86 for the suggestions!! you've made me feel better about it and I've decided that I will go to NZ. I spoke to my friend about it and I am able to stay with her for a week, so that should bring the cost down.

    • Happy Sunday turtles

Yesterday was a busy one, I was up early to go horse riding then went to a boxing class at the gym. Showered and drove to my pet sitter's house as she was throwing a party for her birthday, and kindly invited some clients. It was really lovely, I'm usually awful when I don't know anyone at a party and it gives me real anxiety, but this was very relaxed. Came home and as OH was out for the evening I got a few loads of washing done and then spot cleaned the carpets. I also cooked some lunches and dinners.

This morning I did a couple of small jobs, cleaned the kiitchen and bathroom, and then went horse riding again. Came home and decided to buy a protein shake from a local shop for lunch as a treat. Fell asleep on the sofa for a bit, and have just washed the bedsheets and put another load of washing on. Feels like we have far too much washing for two people!

No spend day today, though I have lost count as usual NST June - Turtle Power - Page 19 (21)

Early dog walk as I got up super early

Made cheese scones and took a couple to my brother.

Picked strawberries, potatoes and mangetout peas from the garden. Also loganberries, but am freezing those for a jam making session when I have time.

Gave the basil a haircut and made pesto NST June - Turtle Power - Page 19 (22)

DD2 gave me a daylily plant, and amazingly I managed to find a space for it in a border, instead of yet another pot that needs constant watering!

OH and I cooked a roast dinner. OH wanted to cook the meat (a small pork joint) in the air fryer, so we gave it a try. We decided however that it cooks better in the old gas oven, and will do that going forward. Small pieces of meat, such as chicken pieces, chops, sausages etc do much better in the air fryer, as do most veg, but joints will go in the oven in future. There is enough meat left to go with salad tomorrow.

Watered and fed the pots at the bottom of the garden. We have mostly flowers in these, brightening up an ugly concrete path alongside OH's workshop, but also a dwarf blackberry and a bay tree.

Read the meters and entered the readings on the tentacled energy company's web site as requested.

Grateful today for garden produce (my garden is only small, but we get a lot from it), baby blackbirds in the garden and a pleasant day weather wise NST June - Turtle Power - Page 19 (23)

The produce from your garden sounds delicious @DawnW. Are loganberries similar to raspberries? We have red & blackcurrants, gooseberries & raspberries in our garden. The redcurrants are starting to ripen now. Spotted lots of marble sized apples on our trees today, but some will fall off before fully ripened.

Had a lie in as didn't have to get DS's up for work 😊 went for a walk with DH. Stopped to speak to a farmer (who's married to my friend), so didn't walk as far as we'd planned, as I had to get back for a customer & DH had to cook the joing before DS1 & his friend started work.

Shortened 2 dresses & 3 pairs of trousers, then after tea, I weeded the border down the drive. DS got s lift home from his GF'S mum, sit saved me going to collect him from the bus later on.

Grateful for compliments on our garden from the customers, one of them making me a Griffindor keyring, which was a nice surprise & a sunny day

Today I am grateful for another lie in, for a peaceful day, for the gazebo up in the garden so I could work outside in the shade, for the sunshine.

My granddad taught me that this is the time to thin out the apples. Quite often you get 2 or three hanging together in a cluster. When the biggest is about small plum size I take the other two or just one off and the remaining apple will grow bigger and better. The tree sometimes sorts this by itself but if you can reach and do it for him it helps a lot. Thinning also helps with more even fruit production over the years as the tree saves resources and often takes less of a break the next year.

@Thrifty_Taylor loganberries are some sort of cross between raspberries and blackberries. They look a bit like raspberries but are rather sour for eating fresh. I tend to freeze them till I have enough for a batch of jam, either on their own or with other berries.

Today I am grateful for our cheerful builders, for building progress, for finding what Pip needed in sainz, for none of the neighbours putting anything in our skip that's been parked in a bay for a week, for having time this morning to hand hem pip's trousers into shorts for the sixth form induction day.

      Thank you @thriftylass & @DawnW, good info 😊

Up early to wake DS3 for his work placement. Did yoga & Norwegian before breakfast. A different day at work, my pupil was off, I stayed in the classroom in the morning, but went to a different pupil in the afternoon, who is a runner. Thankfully they stayed close by me for most of the afternoon! The teacher praised me, as the usual member of staff was off sick & she lets the pupil do whatever they want, so no limitations set. Not on my watch lol.

A scorcher of a day, so sat outside for half an hour with my book. I used to do this every day when I worked at the tearoom, but got out of the habit when I left. Saw 2 tiny rabbits & their mum in the garden, the mum came within 2 feet of me.

After tea, I sewed zips in a coat & pair of trousers, then knitted a tiny boob to give a teacher as part of a joke, after a pupil pointed out the 'hairy nipples' on a troll picture last week 🤣 Aren't 6 year olds funny?!

Grateful for a pupil giving me a couple of flowers she'd picked, reading in the sun, finding the piece of paper with a customer's details on, as it was missing from the bag with clothes in & I didn't know who it belonged to or what the trousers needed doing to them!

Use it up, wear it out
      Make do or do without!
